Contraceptive Services

The contraceptive pill ONLY is offered by the practice (with the exception of Dr Tierney)

Services which provide alternative family planning methods are:

For Lanarkshire patients, there is a Community Family Planning Clinic, based at Cambuslang Clinic, 5 Johnstone Drive, Cambuslang, G72 8JR.

For Glasgow patients, there is a family planning service held at Sandyford Clinic, 2/6 Sandyford Place, G3 7NB.

Telephone:  0141 211 8130 to arrange an appointment.

Minor Surgery Services

Dr Canning can inject shoulders, knees, elbows and fingers for certain conditions. Patients wishing to use this service should first of all make an appointment to see one of the doctors who will advise of any further treatment, if necessary.

Other Services

The practice runs a variety of Clinics in conjunction with our nurse, Sister Geraldine Wood. These include clinics for Asthma, Diabetes, Weight Reduction, Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, Smoking Cessation, Travel Vaccinations (including Yellow Fever) and Well Woman Clinics.

Child Health Surveillance

The Practice provides child health clinics for all pre-school children. Some of these examinations are carried out by your Health Visitor and others are in conjunction with the doctor. When a check-up is due, you will normally be sent a letter offering an appointment. 

Maternity Services

The doctors provide maternity medical services, including antenatal and post-natal care, shared with your chosen Maternity Unit.

Pre-pregnancy advice is available from your doctor. If you wish to discuss this, please make an appointment.

Cervical Smears

This test is recommended for all women aged 25 - 65 years.

For women aged 25 - 50 years this test is carried out every 3 years.

For women aged 50 - 65 years this test is carried out every 5 years.

The test result will be posted to the patient approximately 4 - 8 weeks following the smear test.

Childhood Immunisations

By appointment or prior arrangement with the Health Visitor.
